Samui Regatta - End of season revival in Samui...
By AY MultiMedia
May 27th: Earlier this year there was some doubt whether this popular regatta would go ahead but some diligent moves by new organisers, Regattas Asia over the past couple of months has significantly renewed interest and guaranteed its survival. For 2012 an armada of yachts from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and as far away as Australia and the United Kingdom are taking part. More than 20 nationalities will be indulging in a mixture of passage and buoy racing in the Gulf of Thailand, in conjunction with a variety of good parties held at some of the classiest resorts on the Island. The wonderful relaxed location of Koh Samui mixed with friendly Thai hospitality and top racing makes this venue one of the best in Asia. Topping the list is Geoff Hill's Dubois 90 Genuine Risk, is the biggest yacht to grace the IRC Zero Class in SE Asian waters. Although they are virtually ensured line honours, Hill will have to overcome a formidable line up before claiming the handicap honours. The front of the fleet is usually Frank Pong's domain, but this time he has downsized to field his TP52 Mui Mui and after an extensive refit could spring some surprises.
