Scammers

The time share touts are ambushing visiting yachties walking along Chaweng Beach road and as they exit Tradewinds. They wear white shirts and are usually two on a bike and usually Brits. Their  modus operandi is to ask "Do you speak English ?" and offer you a scratch pad to try to win a prize which you always do. Then you will be sent to their office to collect your prize and be subjected to three hours of heavy sales talk to part you of $18,000 as a deposit on a time share condo. Please ignore…See More

Launching ramp

An ideal and uncrowded launching area has been located at Ban Kao. Directions are proceed South on ring road from the ferry passing Na Muang waterfall on the left and turn right onto road 4173. Continue straight crossing over road 4170 to Ban Kao restaurant (sign). This a sealed road all the way to the man made harbor.See More

Henry and his Seacart 26 need some help to float the boat in and lifted on her trailer on June 2nd out front of Tradewinds about 8am. Squall and Henry will offer a keg to all volunteers at midday.See More

New technology

It appears four yachts in IRC 1 Class will be racing with the new Orbital Anti Gravity Device (OAGD) in the 2013 KSR. Previously used by the first two placegetters in the recent Vendee Globe, Macif and Banque Populaire, this years KSR will be the first regatta to permit the device and at a latitude of 9 degrees, large weight savings can be expected and makes for some interesting mark roundings as these yachts are expected to catch up with the Racing Class. Layday

In the absence of the Juniors who are in Phuket at the Thailand Youth Games, a fun swim race will be staged at Tradewinds at 2pm on Thursday prior to the traditional BBQ. The course will be a Le Mans start and then a short sprint/swim around a designated anchored yacht. All yachts are invited to enter ONE runner and prizemoney of B5000 for the winner and B3000 and B1000 will be awarded for 2nd and 3rd (and hopefully ring the bell).See More
