Well here we are again at the start of the Sawasdee Samui Regatta. Now in its ninth year. it doesn't seem like it has been a year since I waved goodbye to the crews heading to Phuket after the 8th. Fresh water is available from the tap located at the beach steps at the entrance to Tradewinds.

Ice can be ordered the evening before and will be delivered daily at 8am to Tradewinds. Price is Baht 50 per sack.

Australian Maid arrived last night and wasn't sure of the regatta anchorage so as in the years past Tradewinds has now the green flashing strobe hoisted out front. Another new unexpected arrival is the 38 foot Bavaria Knot@work which has been cruising the S.A. Asian area for the past few years with her owners, the husband and wife team of Greg and his wife Lever. They intend entering Cruising Class which now must be the biggest class in the regatta.

Stunning views ? I thought the cameras on the Apollo moon mission 40 years ago had far better clarity !

Xena just arrived from Hong Kong this morning. She is an X55 and is a surprise entry as she is not yet listed on the Entry List so there may be more boats coming than expected.

Meanwhile the Sawadee Live Cam has been re positioned to view the boats at anchor and before anyone calls me about the Macgregor 26 shitbox out front, I'm having it moved from camera view.

We arrived in KS last Saturday,a very quick trip.

We departed Subic,early as to avoid any typhoon that occurs during this time.

Last year,we had 2-3 typhoon that hindered our scheduled departure from the Philippines.In order for us to not be affected by any typhoon that any time soon will occur,we left early,so that we dont miss the regatta(it happened to us twice before,'04 and 05).

Mandrake,was with us the whole trip,except of the last day, we parted ways…

Good news for the hungry ! On the Lay day after the Juniors prizegiving at 4pm. Tradewinds will lay on their traditional BBQ and two kegs of beer to all crews. This year Stephano form Attica Locanda will join us with his pizzas, lasagnas and other Italian specials, plus Sangrias !

After a hiatus of way too many months a few of the active Samui sailors have decided to try and get the monthly FUN regattas back up and running. This has been prompted by the launching and arrival of a few new boats
